Sanskriti School wins Inquizitive 2017
The 17th edition of Inquizitive, the annual interschool quiz competition organised on Wednesday by HT-PACE at Talkatora indoor stadium, provided a zany collage of wit, smart game-play as well as oodles of entertainment.
The high-octane final of the event featured six teams — Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri; Convent of Jesus & Mary (CJM), Bangla Sahib Lane; Modern School, Barakhamba Road; Delhi Public School, Rohini; Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, and Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan — that had qualified the preliminary stage out of a field that comprised 300 schools from Delhi and NCR.
Quizmaster Rajiv Makhni, who hosted the six rounds, ensured that every single member present at the auditorium took active part in the event, be it in the form of a cheerleader, banner bearer, or audience attempting to answer the questions that were passed on. Makhni said, “I found the finalists this time to be better-rounded. Apart from knowing the textbook stuff, they had a fair share of knowledge across genres such as pop culture, entertainment and other light beat contents.”
In between the breaks, Makhni invited students onstage and challenged them in quick bouts of dance and playful fist fights. He also helped the finalists overcome the stress by asking them to dance to drum beats.
Bluebells Model School’s (Sector 4, Gurugram) aircraft-shaped poster, symbolising a buoyant Hindustan Times along with the caption ‘Responsibly raising standards through high connectivity,’ won the banner contest that was judged alongside the main event. An Aheer folk dance performance won Mount Abu Public School, Sector 5, Rohini, the best cheerleader award.
Fantom Bikes and Indiannica Learning, formerly known as Encyclopaedia Britannica Pvt Ltd., were the sponsors .
Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, won the competition while Convent of Jesus & Mary (CJM) was the first runner-up and Modern School, Barakhamba, the second runner-up.
The winners took home the glittering Inquizitive trophy, individual trophy replicas and certificates, Fantom bikes and dictionaries and knowledge packs from Merriam-Webster and Encyclopaedia Britannica.
Aditya Verma and Aryaman Shandilya, students of Sanskriti School, credited their win to hard work and consistence.
The consolation prize winners were DPS, Rohini, Springdales, Dhaula Kuan, and Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan.
“It’s a fantastic feeling to witness such a grand show as this,” said Anita Kaul Basu, director, Tree of Knowledge – the team that created the questions – articulating her views on Inquizitive, the high-spirited crowd and the superior level of competition.
Annapoorna Sehgal, head-education, HT Media Ltd, said “Today, it was indeed a tough battle of wits for the six finalists! Kudos to Sanskriti for lifting the winners’ trophy.”
