2 Amrapali flat buyers launch indefinite fast against delay
PROTEST Homebuyers say will end protest after assurance from UP govt or Noida authority
with late delivery of the flats, two homebuyers of the Amrapali Dream Valley housing project have started an indefinite fast outside the builders’ corporate office in sector 62.
The two buyers — Vikas Jain and Kaushal Singh — started the fast on Saturday at 7am. Around 400 homebuyers of Dream Valley and other projects also sat on ‘dharna’ outside the Amrapali Group’s office.
“We will end our protest only after the UP government or the Noida authority will assure us that the flats will be delivered in a time-bound manner. We have lost our faith in the Amrapali Group management because they have been making false promises for past seven years. If the government will not act now then our protest will go on,” said Jain, who has failed to get his flat even after a delay of four years.
The Amrapali Group had in 2009 launched Amrapali Dream Valley project with a total of 47 towers in Sector Tech Zone-4. Of 12,000 dwelling units, around 8,000 flats have already been sold but the builder has completed only 40% of the construction work, thereby troubling buyers.
Homebuyers said they have already paid almost 80% of the total flat cost, but the builder is yet to finish even 60% construction on site.
“We are not running away from responsibility at all. We are working to solve buyers’ grievances,” said Shiv Priya, director of Amrapali Group.
“The Amrapali Group has siphoned off our money. We demand that the UP government should send Amrapali CMD Anil Sharma to jail and confiscate his property to deliver our flats. If the UP government will not put all top management of the Amrapali Group in jail, then they may run away like Vijay Mallya,” said Satish Kumar, another Dream Valley buyer.
Meanwhile, three directors of the Amrapali Group submitted their passports to Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate on Sunday to assure buyers that

they have no desire to leave the country. However, buyers were not convinced to end their protest.
“I don’t trust them at all and I am not bothered about their passport. I will go to any extreme to protest. I demand either the Noida authority or UP government refund my ₹19 lakh flat money or my protest will continue. I will not eat anything until my money is refunded. I have lost all faith in Amrapali,” said Kaushal Singh, who had booked a 1BHK flat in 2012.
Noida authority chief executive officer Amit Mohan Prasad said he has requested an audit of Amrapali Group’s accounts.
“If the audit will prove that the Amrapali Group has diverted the money collected from the buyers then we will take suitable action. The authority will take some innovative steps to ensure delivery to buyers and secure investment,” said Prasad.
