Three members of Manipur’s banned terror outfit Kangleipak Communist Party have been arrested by the Delhi Police.
Police said Laishram Ranjit Meitei,45, is the commander-inchief of the KCP-Tamnganba faction, while Lamjanba Khuman,36 of the LK Faction is the ‘member finance’ and the third accused was identified as Thoidam Chaothoi alias Chingsang,30.
The three were arrested on Sunday evening from outside the Tibetan monastery in north Delhi’s ISBT.
Police said the three were planning to set up base in Delhi. Police have recovered a laptop, tablet, two mobile phones with sim cards of Nepal and Manipur, a pen drive containing letterheads of the party and records of the extortion letters the party issued to schools, local businessman and other persons. Police have also recovered personal diaries and documents of the party.
Police said that an officer received a tip-off about the KCP leader Laishram Ranjit Meitei, who was wanted in a case in Manipur. DCP Special Cell Pramod Kuswah said police had information Meitei had come to Delhi. He was hiding in a place close to the West Bengal-Nepal border. Meitei and his two associates were arrested from their meeting point, where special cell officers had laid a trap.
Meitei claimed he was evading arrest for the past five years
The three also told police that earlier they were staying in Kakarbhitta, in Nepal, for the last three years and were extorting money from businessmen and government authorities in Manipur threatening to blow them off if the money was not paid.
