2 killed, 1 injured after bikers crash on their way back from Murthal
Two men died while another was injured when they were reportedly hit by an unidentified vehicle in a case of hitand-run reported from outer Delhi’s Alipur.
Police are also probing if they accidentally crashed the bike themselves on the divider and caused the fall, leading to their death.
The three, all in their mid 30s, were spotted by a passer-by at around 4am on Monday, who then informed the police control room. According to the first information report (FIR), filed by a constable who reached the accident spot near Shani Mandir, NH1, the three were lying injured and unconscious on the road. A TVS Apache motorcycle was beside them which suggested they were riding the bike. A damaged helmet, broken into two, was on the road.
The three were rushed to the nearby SRHC hospital, Narela, where Suraj Keshri, 32, and Rahul were declared brought-in dead while Lachu has been admitted with severe body injuries. The three, police said were returning from Murthal after having dinner in the wee hours of Monday.
The eateries in Murthal, Haryana, around 50 kilometres from Delhi, are open round-the-clock.
Police said the three, all from Nepal were returning to their home in north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.
Doctors at the hospital told police that Rahul and Surah had a lot of alcohol in their blood, which police suspect could also be the cause of the accident. Suraj worked at an eatery in south Delhi.
“We have registered a case at the Alipur police station. We are yet to take Lachu’s statement. He is not fit to give his statement. The sequence of events will be clear only after we take his statement. There are no CCTV cameras at the accident spot.
