Given the pressures and competitiv­e nature of the contempora­ry world, we often seem to get caught up in dealing with the demands of the external world, which could include our families, our workplace, friends and social circles as well as the community at large. Much has been talked about coping with stressors, and most experts and advice columns tends to advocate shifting the focus from the external to the internal and to discuss what is termed as having an internal locus of control. And within such a pursuit, it becomes essential to increase the focus on our own selves. The following are some of the points which could help in our own self-developmen­t:

Know what you can and cannot do which would allow you to create effective and innovative solutions as and when required. It would also enable you to seek support when you are aware of your weaknesses, and would avoid you from taking on more than what is possible for you to handle.

This is probably the one factor that goes beyond most in ensuring that you achieve success. Trusting yourself would provide you with the confidence to tide through circumstan­ces that you would never think you would be able to.
