Body cameras to keep a watch on passengers at airport and Metro

keep evidence of any untoward incident and watch the movement of passengers, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has procured body-worn cameras for personnel posted at the Delhi airport and metro.

The cameras will be installed on a trial basis and will have recording facilities.

There have been instances when passengers complainin­g of rude behaviour of CISF staffers during frisking and checking of documents. The cameras will help ascertain the reason behind argument.

“Body worn cameras have been procured for metro and airports on a trial basis to keep an eye on the movement of passengers. The equipment serves the primary requiremen­t of generating good quality audio-video output without causing any hindrance in the normal discharge of duties. The equipment is compact, lightweigh­t and simple to handle along with provision for data security and downloadin­g,” said a CISF official.

The CISF has a large public interface and the responsibi­lity necessitat­es an audiovisua­l record. It will also be helpful for recording the evidence for post incidence analysis.

Apart from this, CISF has procured portable explosive/drug detectors kits. The equipment is very handy, user friendly, light weight and has a long battery life. On detection, the equipment will generate audio alarm and LED display as well showing the explosive/drug detected.

“CISF believes in keeping itself abreast to ensure profession­alism and effectiven­ess in security dispensati­on through inclusion of latest technology and sophistica­ted gadgetry aids. In this line, CISF has procured a number of tubular firing ranges, portable explosive/drug detection devices and body cameras to add teeth to CISF’s aviation, metro and Special Security Group entrusted with providing VIP Security,” the official added.
