Rohan-Kuhoo win mixed title
The Indian pair of Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg bagged the mixed doubles title at the Hellas Open International badminton series after registering a straight-game victory here on Sunday. The top-seeded Indian combination of Kapoor and Garg defeated compatriots Utkarsh Arora and Karishma Wadkar, seeded fourth, 21-19, 21-19. Kapoor and Garg took just 35 minutes to finish the match. over the last five holes with three birdies, two of them coming on the last two, to make the cut at Dell Technologies Championship. Needing to make the cut and stay inside top-41 to ensure a place in the third leg of the FedExCup Play-offs at the BMW Championships, Lahiri is on tied-41st and will be looking to improve that to get to the next event. Lahiri bogeyed the first hole and then parred the next 11 holes on Saturday before missing a ninefooter for par to go two-over for the day and three-over for the tournament.
Indian shuttler Rahul Bharadwaj suffered a straight-game loss against top seed Thai Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the men’s singles final to finish runners-up at the India Junior International Grand Prix on Sunday. Bharadwaj blew a 6-2 lead in the first game to eventually go down 16-21, 11-21 to the Thailand shuttler .
Kynan Chenai survived a gruelling seven-way shoot-off to reach the finals of trap shooting at the World Shotgun Championships, being held in Moscow, but eventually finished sixth, thus missing the chance to become the fourth Indian shotgun shooter to win a World Championships medal. After the tough qualification round over two days, Kynan ran out of steam in the finals, scoring 17 hits out of the first 25 to be eliminated. In the team category, the Indian trio of Kynan, Zoravar Singh and Birendeep Sodhi finished seventh.
