The Central government has set up a committee to look into the complaints of homebuyers in Noida. Headed by the consumer affairs secretary, the panel will table its report within three days.

Speaking on the problems of homebuyers in Noida, consumer affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan said the ministry has received 400 complaints against developers in Noida.

The panel formed under secretary will brief on the status of home buyer problems within three days, he said.

“I have asked secretary to submit the report on how much is the matter related to the judiciary as well as to consumer affairs ministry. We want to help homebuyers but how we will be able to do it, is what we will decide after receiving the report,” Paswan said.

Noida has been witnessing a series of protests against various real estate developers, who cheated their customers and failed to deliver flats within promised timelines.

Recently, Gautam Budh Nagar police registered 13 FIRs against six real estate developers in Noida and Greater Noida, allegedly for not completing projects and cheating buyers.

Talking about other initiatives by the ministry, officials said new ‘tamper-proof’ seals will soon be implemented at petrol pumps. They said the move comes after a meeting with the petroleum ministry.
