A 34-year-old woman and two contract killers from Agra in Uttar Pradesh have been arrested by the Delhi Police for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 38-year-old man. Police said the two hitmen were hired for Rs 1 lakh by the woman to kill her husband.

Sheela, alias, Shalu, had already paid the killers Rs 40,000 as token money to commit the crime.

The arrested killers were identified as Pramod Kumar,24, and Vivek Kumar,21, both working as labourers in a shoe factory in Agra. Police said the duo was introduced to Sheela by her male friend Kanhaiya, alias, Krishna, who was the main conspirator. Kanhaiya, however, is still absconding.

Omvir Singh, deputy commissioner of police (east), said that with the arrest of the three they have solved a blind kidnappingcum-murder case.

Investigations began after Surender Kumar lodged a missing complaint of his brother Dharmendra Kumar on August 29. Surender told police that his 38-year-old brother had gone missing from his Kondli house at 4am on August 29.

Two days later, Kumar was found dead in a drain near MIG flats in Mayur Vihar Phase-III. During probe, the police learnt that Dharmendra and his wife had frequent fights.

Investigators focused their probe on Sheela and found that she had hired two contract killers from Agra through Kanhaiya. “We arrested and grilled Sheela. She confessed to the crime. The hitmen were also arrested,” said the DCP.
