Now, click selfie with dustbin and win smartphone
The Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) has come up with a unique initiative to encourage hygienic habits among commoners by awarding smartphones for clicking selfies with a dustbin.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission activities, the committee has come up with a concept to let locals cooperate in making the city clean and green.
Mango residents have been sending their selfies with a bin to the MNAC office. The committee will conduct a lucky draw of these selfies and three locals will be given smartphones on Gandhi Jayanti, also observed as Swachhata Diwas.
The first 50 selfies will also be given a certificate by the committee for their contribution to cleanliness.
To participate in the competition, locals are supposed to submit their selfies at the committee office or share it on MNAC’s Facebook page, especially created for this purpose. The last day for participation in the lucky draw is September 30.
MNAC special officer Sanjay Kumar said they had been adopting various measures to make the city clean.
“Since youth are obsessed with selfies, we thought of starting this competition to draw their attention,” he said.
A few months ago, the drinking water and sanitation department directed all government school teachers to send their selfie with toilet at home. The direction was meant to ensure that all the government teachers in Jharkhand used toilets.
The MNAC officials are hopeful that the campaign will spread awareness among locals about using dustbins.
The Jugsalai Notified Area Committee has also started a campaign to distribute dustbins free of cost.
They are providing two dustbins to locals (one for dry waste and one for wet waste), requesting them to stop throwing garbage in the open. The committee has also restarted door-to-door garbage collection after the exit of a private agency hired for the purpose.
