Immobile hat-trick sinks Milan, Lazio go to fourth
Lazio forward Ciro Immobile scored a 10-minute hat-trick to lead his side to a 4-1 demolition of AC Milan whose perfect start to the season was left in tatters on Sunday. Milan had won their first six matches of the season but found themselves four goals behind in less than an hour at a soggy Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has fired back at Robert Lewandowski after the Poland hot-shot criticised the Bavarian giants’ spending policy. So Rummenigge has taken Lewandowski’s words as a thinly-veiled attack on the club.
“Apparently, Robert was irritated by the Paris transfers,” Rummenigge told Bild.
“He is employed by us as a footballer, he earns a lot of money and I regret his statements.”
“Unfortunately his adviser, Mr Barthel, is often the ‘Spiritus Rector’ and this was again the case, Robert does not need to worry, we have a very good squad again this season,” said Rummenigge.
United failed to progress under the leadership of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal following the departure of Alex Ferguson in 2013, according to the club’s current manager Jose Mourinho.
“There was an evolution in the other clubs; there was no evolution in this club. In all the areas that make a team successful I think we stopped in time,” Mourinho told the Sunday Times.
