Delhi Police have arrested a customer service agent working with the ground handling company AISATS at Delhi airport for stealing the bag of a passenger.
According to the police, a complaint was received on Monday by an employee of AISATS about the missing bag of a passenger.
“An AISATS official was deputed for getting customs clearance of nine bags. He got the clearance and went to domestic arrival for in-line induction. After some time, he noticed that one of the nine bags was missing. He reported the matter to his seniors and a police complaint was lodged,” DCP (airport) Sanjay Bhatia said.
The scanning of CCTV footage gave clues about the suspect, who was later identified as Arnab Ghoshal, an employee of AI SATS.
“The accused was apprehended and interrogated at length. On sustained questioning, he confessed that he has stolen the bag,” Bhatia said.
“Further, on the instance of the accused, the stolen bag was recovered from his rented accommodation. One more bag was also found in his room and the accused disclosed that it was also stolen by him earlier,” Bhatia said.
