CP gets city’s 1st air-to-water ATM
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Thursday installed a one-of-its-kind air-towater ATM at Connaught Place.
Ambassador of Israel Daniel Carmon inaugurated the unique water ATM at Charkha Park opposite Regal Building in Connaught Place.
“Israel has developed innovative technologies in the field of atmospheric water generation, filtration, purification and treatment, which are designed to cater to the water needs of large communities. This is part of a pilot project to provide the alternative solution of drinking water,” he said.
NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said an MoU has been signed between an Israeli company, Water Gen, and the council to start the pilot project, which will use alternative technology to improving the quantity and quality of accessible clean water in New Delhi. WaterGen, which specialises in air-to-water technology, uses a solar-powered system to produce fresh water from air.
“This water ATM will provide nearly 500 litres every day and will give people free drinking water,” an official said.
New Delhi MP and council member Meenakshi Lekhi, who was also present at the inauguration, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Israel saw a presentation of this technology and then decided to implement it in India in collaboration with the Israeli experts in the field, an NDMC release said.
