Student ‘pushed off’ building, dies

GORAKHPUR : A class 9 student died on the way to a medical college after she was allegedly pushed off from the third floor of her school building in Deoria district on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 12pm when the student of Modern City Montessori School in Deoria’s Nehru Nagar, went up to the third floor washroom of her school.

“I received a call from school authoritie­s who informed me that my daughter had suffered some injuries .They asked me to reach the district hospital. When I reached there, she was referred to the medical college,” said the girl’s father.

“On the way, she told me that somebody had pushed her off the building,” he added.

Some teachers from the school and the principal are on the run after the incident, police said.

Police have lodged a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unidentifi­ed persons on the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl’s father.

“We have started investigat­ion in the case. We are also looking for the missing school teacher and principal,” said superinten­dent of police Rajeev Malhotra, adding that the girl’s body had been sent for postmortem.
