NEWDELHI: Three days after a man was stabbed to death in an incident of road rage in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony, the police on Wednesday arrested all the four accused in the murder and claimed to have solved the case.

Police said that two men — Nishant Arora and Gaurav Sharma — had been stabbed multiple times on Saturday night when they tried to intervene in an altercation the motorcycle-borne accused were having with a car driver. Nishant died from his wounds on the spot. The duo’s friend, Ashish Tyagi, who was also present at the crime scene escaped unhurt, said police.

The four arrested persons have been identified as Deepanshu Chabra (24), Devender Sharma (24), Rohan alias Gagan Vermani (22), and Gurfan aka Sajju (22). Police said all four have previous criminal records. They were arrested on Wednesday from Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara), said the three victims were heading towards Jheel Chowk in Geeta Colony on a scooter when they found four motorcyclists fighting with a car driver.

According to Prasad, the four accused were returning from a party on motorcycles when a car came from the opposite direction.

“Both the parties had entered into a scuffle when they asked each other to reverse their vehicles. In the meantime, the three friends arrived on a scooter and tried to pacify the others. The three pushed aside the four accused which allowed the car to leave,” said the DCP.

As the car driver left the scene, the four accused started a scuffle with the group on the scooter during which Nishant and Gaurav were stabbed. After the two collapsed, the four accused fled. The victims were taken to Hedgewar Hospital where Nishant was declared brought dead.

“We registered a case and tracked the movements of the suspects in Mussoorie and Haridwar. The four were caught from Haridwar,” said the DCP.
