Four killed in separate road accidents in city in 72 hours

NEWDELHI: Four people, including a father-son duo, were killed and a teenager was injured in four separate road accidents reported from Delhi in the last 72 hours.

The accidents included two hit-and-run incidents in Con- naught Place and Kashmere Gate areas in which neither the two victims nor the offending vehicles, were identified

The first body was found on the Hamilton Road in Kashmere Gate area around 11.15 pm on Sunday. The man was in his 40s, but remains unidentifi­ed. The second accident occurred near Shivaji Stadium in Connaught Place. The body of the man, believed to be in his 30s, was found around 5am on Monday. He was bleeding from his head and was rushed to RML Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

In the third accident, a 40-yearold man and his 13-year-old son were killed after the bicycle they were riding on was hit by a speeding truck in north Delhi’s Burari on Monday night. Police said the truck driver fled the accident spot, leaving behind his vehicle.

The father-son duo was identified as Sher Singh and son Vikas. Singh worked as a labourer.

A case of rash and negligent driving causing death was regis- tered against the absconding truck driver.

The accident took place around 9 pm when Singh was riding his bicycle and his son was riding pillion. As they reached near Darshan Chowk in Burari, a speeding truck hit them and dragged the bicycle for some metres before coming to a stop.
