NEW DELHI: Within hours of the Mumbai stampede, officials of the Delhi Division of the Northern Railways hurriedly left their offi- ces to inspect the foot overbridges and issued an order barring change of platforms at the last minute for arriving trains.

At New Delhi station, at least 4 lakh passengers use the bridge every day.

Delhi division regional manager RN Singh said, “An order has been issued not to make any last-minute announcement for platform change. Besides, personnel of the RPF will be posted at the bridges.” NEW DELHI: The government on Friday allowed businesses and traders to sell their stock pre-dating July 1, when the goods and service tax (GST) was implemented, until December 31 with stickers showing the revised price, taking into account the tax changes.

The high court’s revised order on September 4 came eight days after the Supreme Court barred it from allowing the Lucknowbased GCRG Institute of Medical Science to admit fresh students for the academic session 2017-18.

The Medical Council of India (MCI), the country’s medical education regulator, had moved the top court against the high court’s revised order, passed three days after the original order.

“I am at my hometown right now to attend a puja. I will reach Lucknow on October 2. I will talk then,” justice Narayan Shukla told HT when reached on phone. The other j udge, Virendra Kumar, refused to comment.

The original order of September 1, signed by both judges, had
