GURGAON: A counselling session telling children about ‘ good touch, bad touch’ at a school in Gurgaon’s DLF Phase 3 on Wednesday helped police nab a school employee, who had allegedly abused two minor girls a couple of days ago.

On Wednesday, the matter was brought to light by two students of a school, run by an NGO, during the counselling class. The school management later checked the CCTV footage from a day earlier and lodged a complaint at the women’s police station in Sector 51.

In their complaint, the school officials named one Suresh Kumar, 33, as a accused and a case was registered under Section 10 of the POCSO Act. Kumar, a sweeper at the school, was later arrested and sent to Bhondsi jail on Wednesday.

Wednesday was, however, not the first instance when a case of sexual abuse had been exposed by minor victims after being educated about ‘good touch, bad touch’ at their school.

In the first week of July, a minor girl had revealed sexual abuse by her grandfather after being counselled about the different kind of touches and the grandfather was later arrested.

Two months later, another counselling session in a school enabled a teenager to speak about her alleged rape by her father. In both the cases, the accused were promptly arrested and sent to jail.

The latest incident at the DLF Phase 3 school comes close on the heels of the murder of an eightyear-old Class 2 student allegedly by a bus conductor at the Ryan International School, Bhondsi. In the Ryan case, the prime accused, Ashok Kumar, 42, had allegedly confessed trying to sexually assault the boy before slitting his throat.

Police said, the accused Suresh Kumar had allegedly molested the girls when they went to use the washroom on Monday. The accused, police added, is a resident of Nathupur village and hails from Jharkhand. He was employed by the school in March 2017.

After getting the complaint from the girl students, the school authorities checked the CCTV camera recording and found the accused getting out of the girl’s washroom right after the two girls leave.

“The girls told their teacher that the accused had tried to hold their hands, grab them by the waist and touch their private parts,” said a police official.

A case was registered against the accused and statements of the students would be recorded soon, said inspector Kailash Yadav, SHO, Women’s police station, where the case was registered.
