NOIDA: A 15-year-old Nepalese girl approached an NGO and accused her husband of forcing her into prostitution. The NGO team and the police rescued the victim and her twoyear-old boy from the accused and sent them both to a children home for counselling on Sunday evening.

The victim told them that her husband, Nitin, beats her and is forcing her into prostitution. “Two days ago, 30-year-old Nitin brought two men to our house in Noida’s Sector 27 and closed the door. The men tried to force themselves on me. I cried loudly and alerted the neighbours, after which the men fled the house,” she told the child helpline members.

A member of Chid Line, a non government organisation, said the girl claims Nitin married her in Kathmandu about a couple of years ago and brought her here. Nitin, a native of Bihar, works as a security guard in a mall in Noida

“The man has been oppressing the girl for quite some time, which was noticed by their neighbours. One of them asked the victim to approach Child Line for help,” said Satya Prakash, project manager of FXB India Suraksha, a non-governmental organisation working in the field of disadvantaged chil- dren and women.

On Sunday, when the Child Line members and the police went to the girl’s residence to look into the matter, the victim started crying and requested them to take her and her child as she didn’t want to live with her husband anymore.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the man on Monday under section 151 CRPC (arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences). He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

“The girl has so far not given a complaint in writing to police. We are counselling her and will provide her every possible legal aid,” Prakash said.
