THE MAN HAD A TIFF WITH HIS ESTRANGED WIFE AFTER WHICH HE STABBED HER WITH A KITCHEN KNIFE

NEWDELHI: A man stabbed his wife, injured her grievously, before jumping down and killing himself from the fourth floor balcony of his house in outer Delhi’s Rohini Sector 16 on Saturday night.

Police said that a little past midnight, a local resident informed the control room about a woman, bleeding from her arms and shouting for help on the road. While a police team was rushing to the spot, they received another call, stating that a man had jumped to death from a building in the same colony where the woman was spotted.

Police on reaching learnt that the woman was stabbed by her husband, who later jumped from the balcony and died of injuries.

DCP Rohini, Rishi Pal said the deceased, Jaswinder Singh, was a sales and purchase agent and had come to meet his estranged wife.

The two have a four-year-old daughter. Singh had separated from his wife and was allowed to visit his daughter on weekends.

Though police are probing what led the quarrel on Saturday night, preliminary investigations revealed that Singh and his wife did have a tiff during their meeting.

The siblings of Singh’s wife told police that during the quarrel the couple had gone to the ter- race. Police suspect that Singh allegedly came down, got a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife when their tiff turned violent.

The woman then climbed down the stairs and came to the building parking lot, shouting for help. Locals told police that the Singh, in the meanwhile, jumped from the balcony and hit a car parked below the building before landing on the ground. He suffered head injuries.

The duo was rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital, where Singh succumbed to his injuries. His wife’s condition was stated to be critical. DCP Pal said the couple married in 2012.

They separated around eight months ago. Singh’s wife was staying with her siblings in the three bed room flat at Rohini Sector 16.
