Nearly eight lakh university teachers to get a salary hike
NEW DELHI: Ahead of the festive season, there is good news for the nearly 8,00,000 teachers and staff working in colleges, universities and institutions run by the Centre and state governments.
The Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a major pay hike, which will result in their salary increasing in the range of 22%-28%. The pay revision is based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
HT reported on July 10 that the pay hike would be in this range.
The approved pay scales would be applicable from January 1, 2016.
With the pay revision, an assistant professor’s entry pay would jump by ₹10,396 with a grade pay of ₹6,000.
