Bogeys push Lahiri to tied 10th in final round, Chawrasia finishes 68th

KUALA LUMPUR: Anirban Lahiri brought home a card of one-under 71 in the final round to sign off tied 10th at CIMB Classic and make a good start to the new season on the PGA Tour, here.

Lahiri did not quite manage the kind of a low round he had envisaged for the final day but he managed a Top-10 finish after aggregatin­g 13-under 275.

Starting the day at 12-under, Lahiri carded four birdies and three bogeys in the final round at TPC Kuala Lumpur to slip to tied 10 from overnight sixth. SSP Chawrasia (75) slipped further six places and finished at 68th, but the big relief for the two-time Hero Indian Open champion, was that he did not slip on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

BENGALURU BULLS BEAT UP YODDHA 38-32

PUNE: Bengaluru Bulls produced a measured performanc­e to beat UP Yoddha 36-30 in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5. Despite the loss, UP Yoddha became the sixth and last team to seal their spot in the super playoffs.

Mahender Singh was superb in defence and scored 10 tackle points for Bengaluru Bulls. Rohit Kumar was in fine raiding form and scored 13 points to lead Bulls to a much-needed victory.

INDIA’S FIRST OLYMPIC SWIMMER PASSES AWAY

VIJAYAWADA: India’s first Olympic swimmersha­msherkhanp­assed away after suffering a heart failure. Shamsher, 87, is survived by three daughters and two sons. He lived in a small village, Kaithepall­e near Repalle in Guntur district. “He complained of chest pain in the morning, before we could reach the hospital, he passed away,” Shamsher’s daughter-in-law M Roushn said. Shamsher was the first swimmer from the country to participat­e in the Olympics in 1956.
