BJP MP JOINS HANDS WITH ANNA FOR RALLY AGAINST GOVT

NAGPUR: Renegade BJP Lok Sabha member Nana Patole is set to cause more embarrassment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

After meeting Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on Friday, Patole will organise a farmers’ rally at Chikhli in Buldhana district, along with social crusader Anna Hazare, on November 7.

“I am organising the farmers’ rally to highlight their plight in the region. I had a talk with Hazare in this regard and he has given consented to attend the rally,” Patole said.

The venue of the rally has been well thought out — it is the home of senior BJP leader and Maharashtra minister for agriculture, Pandurang Phundkar, who belongs to Buldhana.

“I am concerned with the farmers’ plight, which is now at its peak in the state. Recent reports show that farmers’ suicides are on the rise. Already reeling under drought, pesticide poisoning has also broken the farmers’ spirit. Yet the government is doing virtually nothing to rescue the farming community,” Patole said.

Patole also announced that he would tour Yavatmal district soon, along with Sena chief Thackeray.
