NOIDA: Two men died and three were injured after the car in which they were travelling collided with a road divider near Kailash Hospital on SurajpurPari Chowk road late Sunday night.

The incident took place around 11.45pm when the five men were travelling towards Site-4 area from Surajpur. The police said that the five men — Pramod Kumar, 34, a chemical production engineer, Lokesh Sharma, 32, Rajesh Kushwaha, 35 and Amar Singh, 40, all residents of Lotus Park Society in Surajpur, and Kuldeep, 28 — were friends.

Kuldeep and Singh owned a BPO call centre at GHS Plaza in Site- 4 area. Police said that Kuldeep received a call from the call centre about a technical snag after which the five men rushed towards the centre in a Maruti Swift Dzire car.

The car was driven by Lokesh, who has been taken into custody by the police for investigation. He told police that a man was cross- ing the road and to avoid hitting him, he steered the car, following which it collided with the divider and was flung into the adjoining green belt.

Passersby spotted the five men bleeding profusely and called the police, following which a team from Kasna police station rushed to the spot and took them to Kailash Hospital, where Singh and Kushwaha were declared brought dead.

Medical superintendent of Kailash Hospital, Dr Sanil Kapoor, said, “Kuldeep’s right leg is fractured, while Kumar received a blow to his head and is critical, in the intensive care unit. If his condition deteriorates, a surgery will be conducted.”

Suniti, the superintendent of police, said, “The bodies of the deceased have been sent for a post-mortem examination and reports are awaited. Prima facie, it seems the driver was drunk.”

“After questioning Lokesh, we came to know that the car was being driven at a speed of 130km/ hr,” said Jitender Kumar, station house officer, Kasna.
