Merittrac to offer more test centres for ACT
NEW DELHI: In a bid to provide more students with easy access to test centres, American firm ACT which conducts tests for admission to undergraduate colleges in the US has entered into an agreement with Merittrac, an Indian assessment services provider.
ACT is a test aimed at high school students to assess their suitability for American undergraduate colleges.
“The number of Indian students taking an interest in American undergraduate education is increasing and this will move will help them access test taking services better,” said Nagendran Sundarajan, executive vice president, Merittrac Services.
With this agreement, MeritTrac becomes the exclusive provider of ACT exam in India.
According to Sundarajan, ACT believes that the number of test takers is likely to increase by ten fold if test centres are conveniently located close to the test takers.
The number of test centres for ACT across India is expected to be around 30.
As part of the agreement, Merittrac will administer the test, provide invigilation as well as share the test materials for further processing.
Merittrac has been providing assessment services for over 17 years and has a network of centres across the country. Apart from ACT, Merittrac has been administering other local and international examinations as well.
“One of the reasons Merittrac has been chosen as a partner is the company’s experience in taking high-stake tests to the Indian market and our understanding of local realities will help brand the product better,” says Sunda- rajan.
Some of the cities where candidates can now take the ACT include Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Varanasi, Noida, Mussoorie, Mohali, Lucknow, Kolkatta, Jammu, Jaipur and Indore among others.
