Number of Indians studying in US doubled in five years

NEW DELHI: The number of Indians studying in the United States almost doubled in the past five years to reach about 1.86 lakh in 2016-17, growing by 12.3% over the previous year, according to the 2017 Open Doors Report on internatio­nal educationa­l exchange data released by IIE and the US department of State Bureau of Educationa­l and Cultural Affairs on Monday. The number of American students coming to India for academic credit at their home university in the US, however, registered a decline.
