ALIGARH : Days after the charred body of a Delhi-based builder Mohd Rizwan Khan was found in his car on national highway near Aligarh, police have arrested five people, including the victim’s wife, on Wednesday.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Aligarh, Rajesh Pandey told media persons that the property dealer’s wife had roped in contract killers to eliminate her husband following a property dispute.

The SSP said while two accused Ashu and Sonu – residents of Arthala village in Ghaziabad – were arrested from Loni border in Ghaziabad, Rizwan’s wife Nazneen, brother-in-law Afroz and one Shahrukh were held from Delhi.

“Rizwan was going to Aligarh with Sonu, Ashu and Afroz on Saturday. After a drinking session, the accused strangulated Rizwan and set his car afire. Sonu also sustained burns in his hands during the process,” the SSP said.

The charred body of Rizwan Khan (35), a resident of New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, was found in his car on the Sadhu AshramPanethi road in Harduaganj police station area of Aligarh on Saturday night.

Some morning walkers of Alhadadpur village in Aligarh spotted the car on Sunday.

Rizwan’s wife Nazneen lodged an FIR regarding her husband’s disappearance at Jamia Nagar police station on Saturday afternoon and informed the police that he had gone to Aligarh to realise ₹8 lakh payment from someone.

Circle officer, Loni, Durgesh Kumar Singh said all the five accused had been brought to Aligarh for further investigation.

The SSP had formed a surveillance team along with a special operation group to investigate the case.

Initial probe had revealed that Rizwan had two wives and there was a dispute between him and his second wife Shazia Parveen. He was sent to jail following a dispute and was released on October 26.
