Two arrested for murder, snatching

NEWDELHI: Two men were arrested by Delhi Police from Maujpur for having been allegedly involved in murder, attempt to murder and snatching cases in north east Delhi.

The accused were identified as Almash (22) and Farukh (19). According to the police, both the men were allegedly wanted in cases registered in police stations across Jafrabad, Welcome and New Usmanpur.

Police said they received a tipoff on Thursday around 8:30pm that Almash and his associate Farukh would come from Seelampur, towards Maujpur, allegedly with an intention to commit some crime.

“A trap was laid. The accused were identified by a informer who was accompanyi­ng the police team. When the police team moved in to try and stop them, the duo pulled out guns and started shooting. However, our team managed to overpower them. The assailants, identified as Almash and Farukh, were arrested . Their guns were seized from them,” said deputy commission­er of police (northeast) Devender Arya.

Police said that Almash is a native of Uttar Pradesh. He allegedly started committing crimes to earn easy money and to impress his female friends with his luxurious life style, police said.

Farukh is a native of Delhi. He was impressed with the life style of Almash and allegedly started committing petty offences with him , police said.
