GURGAON: The inquiry report into the death of a seven-year-old girl from dengue at a city private hospital in September will be submitted to Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Monday.

The chief medical officer of the Gurgaon Civil Hospital will visit Chandigarh to submit the report.

The father of the 7-year-old victim had claimed that besides prescribing expensive medicines, the hospital billed them for 660 syringes and 2,700 gloves during the girl’s15-day hospital stay. The 20-page itemised bill from the hospital added up to ₹18 lakh.

Responding to a family friend’s tweet expressing outrage over the billing, Union health minister JP Nadda promised a probe.

“The investigation was conducted by a four-member team and the findings will be submitted on Monday. The enquiry, which started on Thursday, was headed by two directors of the health department,” BK Rajora, CMO, Gurgaon Civil Hospital, said.

The medical reports and medicines prescribed to the patient were examined by the team from the health department. A note was prepared about the medicines that were given to the patient and the charges were also specified in the report, which could shed more light into whether the family has been over-charged.

Asked if the team of health officials found any foul play, Rajora said, “Before submitting the report we cannot comment about the findings. We have prepared a report about the course of treatment in this particular case.”

Vij ordered that a senior officer would investigate the case, and pointed out that in Haryana, no hospital would be allowed to play with the health of the people.
