NEW DELHI: Refusing to pay for juice and eggs led to clashes between two groups of men, resulting in one man getting killed in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar late night on Saturday, police said.

The victim, Govind, a 23-yearold civil defence employee, was reportedly stabbed to death during a scuffle.

Police said that they have arrested three accused in the case on Sunday. These three men have been identified as Satish (23), Sandeep (30) and Sagar (30).

Police said that Sandeep and Satish had come to a vendor, identified as one Santosh, on Saturday afternoon to buy juice and eggs.

However, Sandeep and Satish allegedly refused to pay and threatened the vendor. They returned in the evening around 8.30pm, accompanied with their friend Sagar. At that time, the vendor was with three of his friends — Mahesh, Sumit and Govind. The two groups then had a scuffle, police said.

During the scuffle, Govind was stabbed. After the stabbing, he was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital.

However, he died due to the injuries at the hospital. Police said that he was a civil defence employee posted at SDM office in Rajouri Garden.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said that a case of murder has been registered at Adarsh Nagar police station.

“During investigation, the police team identified the hide outs of Sagar and his friends Satish and Sandeep. All three have been arrested in the case. The weapon used in the crime, i.e. the button-operated knife has been recovered from the possession of Satish. Three mobile phones have also been recovered from them,” said Dumbere.
