Lift crashes at bike showroom in Gr Noida, 5 hurt
NOIDA : Five men were injured when a lift at a two-wheeler showroom came crashing down from the third floor in Greater Noida on Thursday afternoon.
The mishap took place around 1pm at Kaveri Motors, a bike showroom in Kasna. Four of the injured men were buyers and the fifth person a salesman.
They were coming down to the ground floor with a bike when the lift fell, allegedly due to overload.
As the lift came crashing, the showroom’s employees rushed and rescued the five men who were trapped inside.
The victims received injuries on their heads, arms and legs. They were immediately shifted to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida where they are undergoing treatment.
Ajay Pratap Singh, 25, Prashan Rawal, 23, Vikas Rawal, 20, Robin Raghav, 27 had gone to the showroom to buy a bike. All of them are residents of Ghodi Bachera in Greater Noida.
The four men had chosen a bike on the ground floor but saw some scratch marks. They informed the salesman Sachin, who took them to the third floor to check for more bikes.
All the five men had climbed the stairs to reach the third floor but took the elevator to reach the ground floor with the bike.
“We were five people with the bike inside the lift when it suddenly fell to the ground. We could not realize what happened and it was shocking. The bike fell on us during the incident,” said Vikas, who suffered a leg injury.
Sachin, Robin and Ajay received injuries on their heads and were shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. The condition of all the injured was stated out of danger.
The showroom’s admin head, Nitin Kumar, said the lift was meant for carrying bikes with one person. Due to heavy load, the rope snapped and the lift fell,” he added.
