Modi flays ‘ personal attacks by Congress’
BARBS Rahul accuses Centre of doling out benefits to rich industrialists at the cost of the poor CONGRESS ACCUSED PM MODI OF MOVING AWAY FROM THE ‘REAL ISSUES’ OF THE STATE AND RAKING UP CONTROVERSIES TO DIVERT PEOPLE’S ATTENTION
AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, continued to accuse the Congress of mounting personal attacks on him claiming that the opposition party was questioning his parentage.
He quoted tweets by one Salman Nizami who he claimed was a Congress leader to say that he “disapproves” of the use of bad language in public discourse.
The Congress retorted saying that Kashmir-based Nizami was not even a primary member of the party. Nizami in turn claimed that his account had been hacked.
At an election rally in Lunawada, Modi said that the Nizami, in his tweets, had asked about the PM’S father and mother after spelling out the sacrifices made by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s father (Rajiv Gandhi) and grandmother (India Gandhi). “India is my father and mother, and like a good son, I will spend my entire life serving the country,” the PM said, while accusing the purported Congress leader of seeking Azad Kashmir and glorifying Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru.
“Do you want Afzal in every home? Can you allow Afzals in Gujarat?” Modi asked the crowd at the rally in Mahisagar district, where the second phase of polling will be held on December 14.
Continuing his tirade over Aiyar’s “neech” remark against him, he asked people at another rally in Bodeli, Chhota Udaipur district, “do I become neech because I was born in a backward community?”
The Congress on the other hand, accused Modi for moving away from “real issues” and raking up unnecessary controversies to divert people’s attention from the issues plaguing Gujarat.
“Kya Ab Bashan hi Sashan Hai? (Is speech now governance),” Gandhi asked in Banaskantha district in Gujarat, where he addressed four rallies on Saturday, while claiming that devel-
opment was missing from the PM’S speeches.
In Modi’s hometown of Vadnagar, Congress leader asked why the BJP released its vision document only after the campaign for the first phase had ended and accused the Modi government of doling out benefits to several rich industrialists at the cost of the poor and the deprived.
Stating that the Congress took three months to prepare its manifesto, he said when the Congress government comes to power in Gujarat it will provide people free medicines and medical facilities in government hospitals.
Stating that 80% engineers in Gujarat are unemployed, Gandhi asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi why the state’s education system has been “sold out”.
“80% engineers are unemployed. Tata Nano is a jumla (rhetoric), the car is not moving. Those who demand jobs, are greeted with bullets,” said Gandhi on Twitter.
“The future of the youth has been put at stake. Education system has been sold out,” he said. “Why did Modiji commercialise education centres,” Gandhi asked.
He also asked the PM why he was not replying to his questions. Gandhi had so far asked about 11 questions as part of a Congress strategy of asking one question daily to Modi ahead of the polls.
He previously posed questions on unemployment among youth, women safety, education, health, tribal issues, “undue benefits” to power selling companies, state debt and the Prime Minister’s flagship ‘Housing for All’ scheme.
