NEWDELHI: The body of a teen, who had gone missing from south Delhi’s RK Puram, was found on railway tracks in Gurgaon on Wednesday.

Police said prima facie, Diwakar Jha, 19, looks to have committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Diwakar’s family, however, alleged foul play. No suicide note was recovered.

Diwakar’s cousin Shambhu Jha on Wednesday said that the teen had left home for school in Netaji Nagar on Tuesday, but never reached there.

“He left home around 7am, as usual. However, later in the day, when his parents went to his school to attend a parents’ teachers meeting, we learnt that he had not reached school that day. We launched a search for him and managed to speak to some of his classmates who told us that they had last seen him at Sector 4 in RK Puram around noon,” said Jha.

The family got a missing complaint registered at RK Puram Police station on Tuesday .

On Wednesday morning, the Gurgaon Police received a call about the body, chopped in two, lying along railway tracks. The SHO (GRP, Gurgaon) Pawan Kumar told HT that the call was made by a passerby.

“The body was in two pieces. There was a bag lying near the body with the name of a school. We used this to trace the family and identify the deceased,” Kumar said.

Police said that they believe it is a case of suicide as the place where the body was found is in a relatively inaccessible area. Shambhu, however, insisted on foul play and asked the police to explain why Diwakar had landed up in Gurgaon.
