Govt orders inquiry into death of teenage footballer in Australia
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into two incidents of mismanagement and carelessness in taking care of students participating in the Pacific School Games in Australia.
“I am in recipient of a complaint about mismanagement and carelessness in taking care of students who have gone to Australia with the SGFI (school games federation of India) this year...” deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said.
He said that the inquiry should be completed within a month and the report along with the action taken be submitted to him by January 19, 2018.
The incident in question relates to a video showing girls hockey team from India protesting against lack of facilities during the Pacific School Games in Australia. The Sports Authority of India clarified that no sanction/approval for travel was accorded to the team and the coach. “We all are aware of the unfortunate incident that took

Sisodia said “This is a serious matter. How can the department/management teams so insensitive for the care and safety of their budding sportspersons, especially when they are girls who have gone for the first time in international exposure,” he said in a statement.
Sisodia ordered the secretary (education) to get the entire matter inquired through a competent officer. A story headlined ‘Centre set to hike BPL pension, may ask states to share more of the burden’, published on the front page on December 18, said that the Union rural development ministry wants the Centre’s share to be at least ₹1,000. It has been clarified that the amount of the enhanced pension is still under discussion.
