MAN WANTED IN KIDNAPPING, RANSOM CASE ARRESTED

-

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man wanted in a case of kidnapping for ransom and firing at a police party in Alipur was arrested after a brief chase in Palla Village in outer Delhi’s Narela on Wednesday. A reward of ₹25,000 was announced by the Delhi Police on his arrest.

Rajneesh Gupta, DCP (Rohini), said the arrested man, Rohin Chauhan from Noida, was evading arrest in a kidnapping for ransom case that was registered at the Alipur police station in August 2017. Gupta said Chauhan was caught following information that he would come to Palla village for some personal work.

Chauhan, along with his four other accomplices, had allegedly kidnapped a businessman near Singhu border while he was driving back home on August 29. The businessman was talking to his friend over phone when the alleged kidnappers travelling in a car intercepted his car and forced him to stop. He was their random target, said police.

“They overpowered the businessman, pinned him down on the car’s floor and drove away. The businessman’s friend informed his family members about the kidnapping and police were i nformed. The police tracked down the suspects’ movements and started chasing them,” said a police officer. On the way, a tyre of the businessman’s car burst, and the assailants were changing the tyre when the police team arrived and caught them after a brief chase.
