NEW DELHI: Four transgenders were arrested for allegedly killing another transgender by repeatedly attacking him with a rolling-pin and other blunt objects in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri on December 17 last year.

The four were enraged because their ‘friend’ had allegedly stolen Rs 65,000 from them, said police.

Police said the deceased, Mohit alias Mahi, 25, lived with the four at their home. The arrested transgenders were identified as Kuldeep alias Kiran, Anil alias Anamika, Ajay aka Dolly, and Sandeep alias Sandhya.

Rajneesh Gupta, deputy commissioner of police (Rohini), said the accused panicked after the murder and stayed with Mahi’s body for almost 24 hours after the incident. The four had thrashed Mahi on December 15 and left him critically injured, before retiring to bed. The next morning they panicked after finding Mahi dead.

On the night of December 16-17, a police officer said, the four allegedly transported the body to a secluded place near a CNG station in Sector-22, Rohini, on a two-wheeler and dumped it on the roadside.

Gupta said that a passerby later spotted the body on December 17 morning and called the police. The victim was found without any identification documents on them and the person’s identity could not be established immediately.

“Local intelligence later helped us identify the victim as Mohit alias Mahi. A murder case was registered and during investigation it was learnt that Mahi lived with four other transgenders. Several transgenders living in various areas of Rohini and other outer districts were rounded up for questioning and examined for clues,” said Gupta.

The DCP said that further investigations i n t he case revealed that a few transgenders from Mangolpuri area were looking for Mahi, who allegedly was absconding after stealing ₹65,000 from their home, while they had gone to ‘bless’ a new born in the area. Investigators identified the four and interrogated them.

“The four confessed to their crime. They revealed that on December 15, they found Mahi in Mangolpuri. They brought Mahi home and thrashed him,” he said.
