NOIDA: A 24-year-old woman was found dead with bruises on her face and neck at her house near SK2 Park in Noida’s Sector 93 on Friday morning. Almost eight hours later, her 25-year-old husband — who the police were suspecting had killed the woman — was found hanging from a tree at a public park in Sector 132.

While Pinky’s body was found by her family in her house at 6 in the morning, a bystander informed the police about her husband’s, Ravindra, body in the park around 2 in the afternoon. Police said no suicide note was found from near Ravindra’s body.

The deaths of the young couple have shaken the lower middle class neighbourhood with the local residents claiming that they had a strained relationship. Some also alleged that Ravindra used to beat his wife.

Pinky was employed at a shop in a Sector 49 shopping mall. Ravindra was an electrician in the maintenance team at Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida. They got married in 2015 and lived in a one-room house on the second floor of a building near SK2 Park.

Pinky’s parents lived on the same floor of the building and the two families were close. Her parents, Jagdish Prasad, 57, and Maya, 55, have seven kids with six daughters and one son. Pinky was their fourth daughter. The family is a native of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and they had migrated to Noida decades ago in search of better livelihood. Ravindra was a native of Bulandshahr and had moved to the locality after his marriage.

Maya told the police that she had sent her daughter Bulbul to check on Pinky at 6am because she had a morning shift and lights in her room were not on.

Prasad said, “My daughter said the door was closed and called me. When I reached there, I found the door bolted from outside. I opened the door and saw bloodstains on the floor. I quickly shut the door and called the police. The police reached at 7 am. They opened the door and found Pinky’s body on the floor. Husband Ravindra was not there.”

According to eyewitnesses and the police, blood was coming out of Pinky’s mouth and her neck had turned blue and had bruises.

Pinky’s kin submitted a complaint to the police, naming Ravindra as the accused.

“We found the body with bruises on the neck and blood on the face. We sent the body for post mortem. The report will come out on Saturday. Based on the complaint submitted by Pinky’s parents, we lodged a first information report under IPC section 304 (B) against Ravindra,” said Shawez Khan, station house officer, Phase II police station.

Section 304 (B) of IPC states an offence where the death of a woman is caused by any burns or bodily injury or subject to cruelty by her husband.

At 2 pm, a man informed the police about a body hanging from a tree in the park at Sector 132 near the expressway.

“We found a body hanging from a tree in the park. The victim had used his pants as the noose for committing suicide. Since Ravindra was absconding and we were looking for him, we identified the body immediately,” said Vedpal Pundir, station house officer, Expressway police station.

The police suspect that Ravindra may have committed suicide after allegedly killing his wife.

Police said Ravindra’s relatives will reach Noida on Saturday morning.

“We have informed his relatives and sent his body for post mortem. The autopsy will be done tomorrow. We will hand over the body to them after that,” said Vedpal Pundir, station house officer, Expressway police station.
