THE ALLEGED ACCUSED WAS CAUGHT FROM PAHARGANJ AREA AFTER A LONG CHASE BY A POLICE TEAM THAT WAS TIPPED OFF ABOUT HIS PRESENCE THERE

NEWDELHI: A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl while she was returning after attending tuition classes in central Delhi’s Mandir Marg area a week ago, police officials said.

Police said the arrested man is an alleged habitual offender and has been previously involved in two cases of assaulting and misbehaving with women.

The alleged accused, who is identified by only first name Yash, was caught on Thursday from Paharganj area after a long chase by a police team that was tipped off about his presence in the locality.

He was wanted in the molestation case registered at the Mandir Marg Police Station on the minor girl’s complaint.

Yash worked in an electronics shop in Paharganj where his father is also employed, said police.

On December 30 last year, a police officer said, the girl was climbing the staircase leading to her house when Yash allegedly molested her.

Police said that Yash allegedly fled the scene when the girl screamed for help.

She informed her parents about the incident but was unable to identify the man, said police.

“We identified the suspect through local intelligence network and nabbed him after a long chase,” said the officer.

In a separate case, two men were arrested and a juvenile apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting a 23-year old woman in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj last week.

The arrests were made on Saturday, police officials said.
