West Delhi: Robber stabs 70-yr-old, tenant

NEWDELHI: A 70-year-old man and his tenant were seriously injured after they were attacked with a knife allegedly by a robber for resisting a robbery at the tenant’s house in west Delhi’s Vishnu Garden on Tuesday evening. The robber was caught and thrashed by local residents before being handed over to the Khyala police.

The tenant, a woman, was stabbed in her chest, hands, forehead, and other parts of her body, while the elderly man suffered stab wounds in his face and forehead. The two were admitted to Guru Govind Singh government hospital for treatment. Police said the two were out of danger.

Vijay Kumar, deputy commission­er of police (west), said a case of attempt to murder and robbery was registered and the robber, identified by his single name Dilshad, was arrested. The FIR was registered on the complaint of the elderly man, Kuldeep Kalsi.

Kalsi told police that on January 3, he had given a contract to Dilshad to paint his house. However, Dilshad was not doing his work properly and was not regular with his work.

On Tuesday afternoon, a police officer said, Kalsi had an argument with Dilshad but after his tenant Krishna intervened, the matter was pacified.

Around 5 pm, Kalsi heard Krishna screaming for help and rushed to the second floor and found her bleeding. Dilshad was there with a knife and he attacked Kalsi aswell.
