NEW DELHI: A city court on Wednesday sought a status report from the police on a complaint filed against Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal for allegedly barging into a house and making caste-based slurs.

The court has directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Narela police station to look into the matter and file the status report by the next date of hearing on February 6.

The complaint has been filed by an 18-year-old woman from Narela. She has alleged that Maliwal along with others forcibly entered her house and used ‘caste based slurs’ against her and her family members in December last year.

Maliwal refuted the allegations and said that this was a case of cross-complaint.

“The complainant is the daughter of a woman who was found in possession of over 250 bottles of liquor during an inspection in Narela. They had been selling illicit liquor. A complaint has been registered in that case. The present complaint is nothing but a cross-complaint in the matter,” said Maliwal.

The complainant said that a 33-year-old woman, who runs a “self proclaimed” vigilante group, allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 as donation from her father. The complainant then alleged that on December 6, Maliwal along with this woman and others “forcibly entered her house”.

It was further alleged that the complainant along with her family members were allegedly dragged out of their house by Maliwal and others. When the complainant objected to such treatment, Maliwal “pulled her hair” and used “caste based slurs” against her, the complaint said.

The Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of house burglars who after carrying a spate of breakins in trans-yamuna areas had come to target posh neighbourhoods of south Delhi.

Deputy commissioner of police (south east) Chinmoy Biswal said while they managed to arrest a member of the gang by stopping them at a police picket near Ashram Chowk on Tuesday, two others managed to give police a slip.

A DOZEN BURGLARIES PLANNED IN ONE NIGHT

The arrested man, Rahul, reportedly told the police that he and his two accomplices were planning to carry out over a dozen burglaries in Lajpat Nagar and Maharani Bagh in a single night.

The car in which he and his accomplices Faheem and Rashid were travelling was also found to
