26-year-old shot at near Narela

NEWDELHI: A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot at by three men after an altercatio­n near his home in outer Delhi’s Swatantra Nagar, near Narela, on Monday night. Police said the bullet hit the man in his abdomen after grazing his hand.

The victim, i dentified as Yogesh alias Goga, underwent a surgery at a private hospital. Doctors said he is critical and is admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Police said Yogesh is registered as a repeat offender at the Narela police station.

the crime took place around 10 pm when Yogesh was returning home with his friend, Sunny. The two were walking when three men, all known to Yogesh, stopped the two and entered into an altercatio­n with them.

During the altercatio­n, DCP Gupta said, one of the three took out a pistol and fired at Yogesh. “The bullet first hit Yogesh’s left hand and then entered his abdomen. Yogesh collapsed and the three fled,” said Gupta.

Sunny raised an alarm and rushed to inform Yogesh’s family about the incident. The family members rushed him to a nearby government hospital from where he was referred to a private hospital, as his condition was critical.

“We have registered a case of attempt to murder. The attackers have been identified. They used to be friends with Yogesh,” said the DCP.
