Student of private university in Gzb found dead in PG room
GHAZIABAD: A 21-year-old student of a private university in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bathroom of his PG accommodation on Sunday night.
Harshit Jaiswal (21), a second year Btech student of SRM University, was a native of Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh and he was staying in the rented accommodation in Modinagar for the past two years.
Prima facie, no injury marks were found on Jaiswal’s body. Police are treating this as a case of suffocation due to gas poisoning as he had an Lpg-run geyser installed i n his bathroom. According to police, Jaiswal’s naked body was discovered by his PG mates at 10pm.
“We received a call from one of his PG mates regarding the discovery of a body in a bathroom on Monday morning,” said Ravi Kumar, circle officer, Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad.
“Only Jaiswal’s bathroom had a gas geyser installed on the floor and all his PG mates used his bathroom to collect hot water. This is how his body was discovered. One of the mates alerted the police. When we reached the spot, we found Jaiswal’s body without clothes as he was probably taking a bath in the bathroom,” Kumar said.
According to police, the post- mortem report has stated no concrete reason behind his death as police have collected his viscera and sent for forensic test.
“Prima facie, no injury marks were found on the body and even the postmortem report failed to give the reason behind his death. Therefore, we have collected his viscera and sent for test,” said Kumar.
“Even the forensic experts are speculating that this might be a case of gas poisoning and subsequent suffocation. Jaiswal’s bathroom had little to no ventilation. But nothing can be said as of now,” said Kumar.
Jaiswal’s uncle Pankaj Jaiswal and his brother-in-law Daksh Kumar had reached the spot to collect his body.
