GURGAON: A group of unidentified men created a ruckus at a mall and broke windows of a bus at different locations in the city on Monday evening while protesting against the screening of the movie Padmaavat.

The first incident took place at a mall located on Sohna Road while the bus incident occurred on the highway near Sector 37.

According to the police, a group of masked men reached Raheja Mall at around 7.30 pm and started destroying objects. They damaged four LCD TVS that were put up at the box office counter of the multiplex.

Vijay Shankar Tiwari, the guard, said, “About 15 miscreants were protesting against the screening of the movie. They were not carrying any posters with them; they were shouting slogans against the movie.”

None of the visitors were injured.

Krishan Kumar, manager of the mall said, “A group of people charged with lathis and destroyed four TV screens at the ticket counter. Glass panes of two shops of burger and pizza joint were also broken.”

Meanwhile, police has begun investigation. “We cannot confirm that the men were members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena as no eyewitness has substantiated anything related to the protest. By the time we reached the spot, the miscreants had already fled,” said Vijay Kumar, station house officer, Sadar Police station.

A similar incident also took place at Narsinghpur area in Sector 37 at 8.15 pm, where a group of 15 men blocked the highway by setting up fire to a tyre and also broke two windows of a bus.

“No one has identified the miscreants so far. We are investigating the matter,” said Amit Kumar, station house officer, Sector 37 police station.

To avoid any kind of untoward incident, police will be deployed outside all malls and multiplexes, commissioner of police Sandeep Khirwar said.

“Three magistrates have been assigned for maintaining law and order situation and control any violence,” Khirwar added.

Though the men were suspected to be the members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena, the organisation denied any such acts.
