IN KOTA, 4 MEN LOOT 25KG GOLD WORTH ~7CR AT GUNPOINT

KOTA: Four persons robbed 25kg of gold jewellery, worth over ~7 crore, at gunpoint from a nonbanking financial company (NBFC), located a few metres from the Nayapura police station.

The i ncident took place between 12.30pm and 1pm on Monday when four unidentifi­ed armed men entered the Manappuram Finance Limited office. One of the robbers was reported to be wearing a helmet.

Inspector general, Kota Police Range, Vishal Bansal, said that the four accused looted the jewellery from the lockers at gunpoint and put the gold in bags which they had brought with them.

After looting the NBFC, they locked the four staff members and two customers inside the bank and fled on motorbikes.

Later, the bank authoritie­s sounded the hooter alarm and people nearby came and opened the gates. The bank officials then informed the police.

Sources said that the robbers also took the mobile phones of the staff and customers. They manhandled the manager to get the locker keys and also beat up a female customer.

One of the customers present during the incident, Madhu Kumari (35), said that the robbers pushed her.

The police are interrogat­ing the bank staff about the loot.

Bansal said that the police are looking at the CCTV footage to identify the robbers.
