Saurav Ghosal to play singles, mixed doubles in CWG squash

MUMBAI: National men’s champion and the number one Indian player on the Profession­al Squash Circuit, Saurav Ghosal, will be playing in singles and mixed doubles events at the Commonweal­th Games in Gold Coast, he announced here.

“I will be playing in the singles and mixed doubles with Dipika Pallikal and will not play in men’s doubles at the Commonweal­th Games, which will be my third,” he said. The 31-year-old is currently ranked 14th on the world PSA circuit.

NEWDELHI: Indian Tigers will take their first shot at the AIBAbacked World Series Boxing Season 8 when they take on Kazakhstan’s Astana Arlans on Feb 9 .

Kavinder Singh Bisht, the flyweight boxer, will lead the Indian charge, while much is expected from Ankus Dahiya in the lightweigh­t class and Duryodhan Singh Negi in the welterweig­ht category. The Boxing Federation of India promoted Indian Tigers will compete in the World Series Boxing for the first time.

HOCKEY PRO LEAGUE

LAUSANNE: The Internatio­nal Hockey Federation (FIH) has revealed the full schedule for the inaugural season of the Hockey Pro League which begins on January 19, 2019. A total of 152 matches have been scheduled between January and June across the world as part of this new game-changing competitio­n.

Nine women’s and nine men’s teams, barring the Indians, will be competing for the Hockey Pro League title, playing eight home and eight away matches throughout the first six months of every year. The top four teams will then compete to determine the winner in a Grand Final later in June.

Spain men will get things underway as they host Belgium in the opening match.
