3 harassment cases in 4 days at airport

NEW DELHI: Three cases of sexual harassment were reported at Delhi airport in four days. The accused in all the cases have been arrested, police said.

The first incident took place on January 30, when a passenger informed the pilot of Air India flight AI 940 coming from Bahrain that a drunk passenger on the flight was allegedly harassing his wife. After landing, the pilot informed the airline security and a PCR call was made. “The complainan­t, a resident of Gurgaon, reported that a co-passenger misbehaved with her under the influence of alcohol. A case under section 354D (stalking) and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person) under the IPC was registered,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity, adding that the accused was arrested.

Second incident took place on the morning of February 1 when a woman was allegedly harassed on a flight by a co-passenger. The woman was travelling from Ahmedabad to Delhi by Indigo flight 6E 6683. According to the complainan­t, at the time of exit, the passenger tried to allegedly touch her. A case of sexual harassment was filed and the accused was arrested, police said.

In the third case, on the night of February 2, a taxi driver allegedly molested a 13-year-old girl. “A PCR call was received at night. The father of the girl informed police that his family arrived at T1 from Nagpur by Indigo flight 6E 202. He booked two taxis from the prepaid booth. While his daughter sitting in the taxi, one taxi driver touched his daughter. She raised the alarm and the driver fled from there,” the police officer said. A case of molestatio­n and under POCSO Act was registered. The accused was arrested with help of CCTV footage.
