Congress gears up for likely bypolls in Delhi
NEWDELHI: The Congress in Delhi has started preparation for bypolls likely to be held in 20 assemblies, which have fallen vacant after disqualification of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAS on office of profit charge. The party is holding workers’ convention in all 20 constituencies.
Speaking at a workers’ meeting in Keshav Puram, Delhi president Ajay Maken criticized the AAP for carrying out Vikas Yatra (development march) and said that the Congress workers would go door-to-door to expose AAP government.
“Ido not understand on what issues, AAP Party is organizing Vikas Yatra whereas development is not seen anywhere in Delhi. Pollution has crossed the danger levels and people remained struck in kilometres long traffic jam. People are dying of dengue and chikungunya and alarming conditions of hospitals are not unknown now,” Maken said. In a story published on page 2 on February 9, the headline ‘Decide on Jama Masjid repair work by Feb 28: HC’ was incorrect. The court was referring to the redevelopment of the Jama Masjid precinct and not repair work going on in the mosque.
The error is regretted.
