GURGAON: Four persons were arrested on charges of molesting a 32-year-old South Korean woman in Manesar, who had stopped with her Indian friend near a hillock to take some pictures on Saturday evening.

The victim had gone just 100 metres towards the green belt along the National Highway-48 and was taking pictures, when a gang of four to five youths accosted them and started harassing the Korean national, who works in a Gurgaon-based firm, the police said.

After a complaint was lodged by the victim on Saturday, a case was registered by Manesar police under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) , 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 of the IPC.

Four accused were arrested on Sunday morning from near an under-construction flyover in Manesar, said Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurgaon police. Those arrested are Jitender alias Kala and Rakesh, residents of Sehrawan village; Sandeep, a resident of Manesar; and Vinod, a resident of Badshahpur in Gurgaon.

The victim is an executive with a Korean electronics conglomerate, police said.

The police said the incident happened near the polytechnic college on NH-48 near Sehrawan.

In her complaint, the woman told the police, “We were coming from Jaipur to Gurgaon and it was around 4.40 pm. My friend stopped the car to show me the his college, which is just three minutes away from the main road. We could see hillocks and the Indian flag and Gurgaon city. I took a picture of the view and sent it to my family when suddenly, a guy came up to us and talked to my friend.”

“I could not understand what he was saying but my friend told me that we should go. Suddenly, four more guys came there and I found one of them filming us with his phone. I was shouting and asking them to stop filming us and then a guy threatened to kill us. They were trying to stop us and even grabbed my hand with a bad intention. I was crying till we reached the car from where we called the police,” her complaint read.

The complainant also told police that the accused started taking pictures of her and also tried to take selfies and refused to stop even when asked to do so.
