MODEL UN MEET
GD Goenka Public School, East Delhi, conducted a three-day inter-school model United Nations conference.
Anil Triganayat, former ambassador to Jordan, Libya and Malta was the chief guest while Dhirender Bhatnagar, secretary general, CUCAI, was the guest of honour. They appreciated the efforts put in by more than 150 participants from 15 schools across Delhi.
The inter-school MUN conference provided a platform to students to evolve into mature citizens with analytical abilities.
Students learnt about issues of global importances and debated them with their peers. Lancer’s Convent, Prashant Vihar, organised group discussions, school assemblies and talks on the importance of rivers.
The event was inspired by the Rally for Rivers initiative of the spiritual leader Sadhguru. Informative videos were shown to the students. Teachers discussed the harmful effects of making water bodies dirty. Teams of two students were selected from Classes 4 and 5 for a quiz contest. The questions were based on the origin of rivers and their tributaries, dams, and deltas. The participants’ spontaneity was praiseworthy. Educative videos on rivers were also shown to the audience.
In the contests, Righteousness house bagged the first position followed by Truth, Peace and Love houses. The winners were awarded with certificates. The event was a blend of knowledge and information. At the end, students took a pledge to care for rivers.
