the students, certificates were also presented to them by principal Nita Arora, and middle wing headmistress Ritu Vashisht. The Paridhi project can be done on any day of the year, but on days of equinox and solstices the Sun is directly overhead on the equator or Tropics of Cancer/capricorn hence making the calculation were easier. The project is a ‘hands on’ science activity to measure the earth. The participants replicated the activity and also enjoyed learning about winter solstice with fun.the activity proved science can be best learnt by doing practicals. While sitting outdoors, participants measured shadows cast by the Gnomon and used trigonometry by which they learnt how simple it is to deduce the circumference of the Earth by measuring the shadows of the Sun. In the past, more than 12, 000 students as well as common people from different parts of the world took part in the project and calculated the Earth’s circumference with 99% accuracy. Tanisha Malviya, a student of the Class 9 of National Victor Public School, IP Extension, recently broke many national records in swimming in the 9th Asian Age Group Swimming Championship held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She also secured 7th position in the 50m and 100m back stroke competitions in the under-14 category events. In addition, Malviya also bagged three golds in individual events of 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke in the U-15 category events at the 44th Junior National Swimming Competition. The students enjoyed the view of ducks, wetland and a wide variety of fishes, rummaging their way through the diverse habitats of the endangered creatures of the wild. The students indulged in bird watching and the identification of variety of species, which not only proved to be beneficial for all but also a mode of relaxation for the entire troop.
